Ultimate lads weekend in Barcelona

Spain – the home of beaches, beer, Ibiza and Benidorm. Famous for all this and much more, it’s usually the seaside resorts and hedonistic islands that draw us in.

But Spain is also full of party friendly towns and cities that make for the perfect getaway destination for a lads weekend on the drink.

Barcelona, for example, offers a buzzing nightlife scene, beautiful women and a laid-back, bohemian vibe for you and your boys to enjoy.

Perfect for stag nights, birthday celebrations or a just a long weekend away, Barcelona is an ideal choice for those looking for all a big city has to offer but with close access to the beach as well.

A trip here can be much more than just another break in Spain, but instead an iconic pilgrimage to celebrate the best things about being away with the boys all rolled into one.

How To Get There

If you’re based in the UK, it’s like that Barcelona will be a piece of p*ss to get to.

Hop on a plane from almost any UK airport and you’ll be there in about 2 hours flat.

Don’t fancy the flight? If you’ve got 12 hours to spare, you can also take the Eurostar to Paris, to jump on a high-speed train ride through France and Spain to reach your destination.

Easy, quick and with plenty of deals on flights to be had all year round, getting here could be quicker than driving from London to Newcastle.

Where To Stay

Barcelona has accommodation to suit everyone. Keep it cheap by bunking down at one of the many hostels or backpacker hotels to be found in the city.

If you fancy splurging a bit, you and your group of lads will find loads of 4 and 5 star digs – but be careful not to p*ss off the staff if you’re planning on being rowdy.

What To Do During The Day

Barcelona is chock full of great little bars if you fancy a bit of day drinking. For the day after a big night out you will also not be short of options to refuel and kick the inevitable hangover into touch.

Hitting the beach is easy – you can literally get the train there in about 10 minutes from the city centre – or try and get tickets to a home Barcelona game see Messi and co. The Camp Nou may not quite be the largest football stadium in the world but it’s certainly one of the most iconic.

The Catalan Capital is great for culture and architecture, but it’s also a city made for fun.

What To Do At Night

The main part of any lads holiday has to be the nighttime festivities, and in Barcelona you and your group will certainly not be left disappointed with what’s on offer.

The Spanish love to party, and Barcelona is definitely one of the best places outside of Ibiza for nightlife. Start with drinks in the main squares and street of Las Ramblas, before heading out to the beach strip. Some of the biggest European club names can be found here, and most establishments are open ‘til way after the sun comes up.

Each of the different neighbourhoods in the city offers a different type of party vibe. The centre of Barcelona and the nearby area of Port Olympic, is the place to be for upscale nightclubs, pretty girls and beach front bars, while the Eixample Esquerra is worth a trip if you’re into your EDM.

Why You Should Do Barcelona With The Boys

With cheap flights to many European destinations, it makes sense to consider a trip abroad for a memorable weekend with the lads, rather than just looking to other places within the UK, and you will be hard pressed to find a better place than Barcelona.

Can’t decide if you want to go on a beachside trip or a city break? Choose Barcelona and get the best of both worlds.
